You should take your E111 or E128 form to a doctor in your area (doctor and surgery details can easily be found in the Yellow Pages or on the internet) where you can register and will then be given a health services information booklet and NHS registration card, which you will need to show at any First Aid centre or when visited by the doctor. It is recommended that you photocopy your E111/E128 and keep this copy at hand at all times (in case of emergencies). Students and visitors who do not have complete health coverage in their home country or come from a non-EC country will need to take out a health insurance policy. Walk-in NHS Clinic (http://www.nhs.uk/root/localnhsservices/wicentres/default.asp) NHS walk-in centres offer fast and convenient access to healthcare advice and treatment for minor injuries and illnesses. No appointment is needed and assessments are carried out by experienced NHS nurses who provide a skilled, safe and caring service. Dental If you plan staying in London or the UK for a long period, we recommend that you register with a dentist. Some services are free on the NHS depending on your status, etc, while others you will have to pay for yourself - which can be quite costly. To find a dentist in your area, visit the following website: http://www.nhs.uk/root/localnhsservices/Dental/Default.asp or check the Yellow Pages. In London, due to under funding and a large demand/short supply, it may be difficult to register with a dentist directly in your area. A list of 24-hour and duty chemists (pharmacies) can be obtained from your local police station at any time of day or night.
